Figure 9. Analysis of cell wall polymer fractions in the GhGalT1 overexpression transgenic Arabidopsis plants.

Figure 9

(A) Non-cellulosic monosaccharide composition of alcohol insoluble residue (AIR) of rosette leaves from GhGalT1 transgenic lines, wild type and mutants. (BE) Sequential extraction of the extracted alcohol-insoluble residue (AIR) and analysis of monosaccharide composition. AIR of rosette leaves from GhGalT1 transgenic lines, wild type and mutants was sequentially extracted using CDTA (B), Na2CO3 (C), 1 M KOH (D), and 4 M KOH (E). Arabinose (Ara), rhamnose (Rha), xylose (Xyl), mannose (Man), galactose (Gal), glucose (Glc), galacturonic acid (GalA) and glucurnic acid (GlcA) are expressed as a percentage of the respective fractions. WT: wild type; GhGalT1oe-L1 and -L5: GhGalT1 overexpression transgenic line 1 and 5; SALK 043252 and SALK 015338: two T-DNA insertion mutants.
