A. MDA-MB-231 and PANC-1 cells were treated with 100 μM ABT-263 and then imaged for 5 hours. Images were analyzed for the percentage of cell death occurring in the population. Graphs show data from three separate experiments per cell line. B. MDA-MB-231 and PANC-1 tumors growing in window chambers in nude mice (n=3 per line) were imaged before treatment, 1 day and 2 days after treatment with ABT-263 (100 mg/kg i.p.). The tumors were then analyzed for the percentage of cell death occurring within the population. Statistical significance, indicated by asterisks, was determined using a two-tailed unpaired Student’s t test (PANC-1 p<0.01, MDA-MB-231 p<0.02). The table below compares the percentage of cells undergoing apoptosis in culture versus in mice, with and without drug treatment at the specified times.
