These values are measured from the observed spots from slices of mouse hearts (5 and 2 days before birth). It was not possible to correct these values for the effect of photobleaching because the cell footprint is very small and molecules move fast into and out of the evanescent field. It is likely that the original density has been underestimated considerably, possibly by a factor of 2–3.
