(A) Heat plot of growth inhibition of the Candida cells by broth micro dilution assay in presence of CUR at concentrations ranging from 1.44–740 μg/ml. Growth of the cells was evaluated both visually and by reading the absorbance (A600) in a microtitre reader as described earlier (18). A stock solution of 11 mg/ml was used (DMSO). Growth was not affected by the presence of the solvent (data not shown). (B) The cells were grown overnight on YEPD plates and then resuspended in normal saline to an OD600 of 0.1. Five microliters of fivefold serial dilution of each strain was spotted onto YEPD plates as described earlier (18), either in the absence or presence of varying concentrations of CUR.
