An unrooted phylogenetic tree of entire mating type gene pairs identified in somatic sequence assemblies of T. elliotti, T. malaccensis, and T. borealis (Tetrahymena Comparative Sequencing Project, Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT, http://www.broadinstitute.org/) and T. pyriformis strain GL (W. Miao, unpublished data) shows that the sequenced strain of T. elliotti can be assigned to mt III and that of T. malaccensis to mt IV. The scale bar represents 10% bp substitutions.
