Multiple alignment of specific var D-like sequences. Specific primers designed for the Indonesian var-D like sequence resulted in sequences corresponding to different sequence types including the DBLγ domain of PfEMP-1 isolated from 3D7 [XM_001351285] and patients in association with PAM [AF547123]. Sequence identity was 29.0, 27.8, 27.0 and 19.3% for Kal2, Pap3, Pap1 and Pap2, respectively, with the previously reported var D gene (AJ277137).
