The DUBs analysed can be grouped into three classes based on their response to DTT. (1) No activity detected: the DUBs do not have detectable activity even in the presence of DTT. (2) Activated by DTT: the DUBs have little activities by themselves, but can be activated by DTT. (3) Enhanced by DTT: the DUBs are active, but the activities are further enhanced by DTT.
