Baseline characteristics of the study participants. SBP and DBP are the systolic and diastolic blood pressures, respectively. Row Ang_II is the concentration of peptide hormone angiotensin II, measured in pg/ml. Row hs-CRP is the serum level of the high sensitivity C-reactive protein in mg/l. The level of amino terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide is given in the row NT_proBNP in pg/l. The LVEF and LVESVI are the left ventricular ejection fraction, and the left Ventricular End Systolic Volume Index, respectively. The P-values for all the measurements were calculated using the independent-sample t-test.
