Histological examination of ankle joints. AIA rats were treated therapeutically with the denatured NNAV (30, 90, 270 μg/kg, i.g.). Sections were stained with hematoxylin and eosin (cartilage 100x, synovium 200x). Compared with the untreated AIA joint, infiltration of inflammatory cells and accumulation of collagen and hyperplasia of articular cartridge were markedly ameliorated by posttreatment with denatured NNAV.
