Immunosenescence is represented by the decrease in time (age of the host) of function , which drives the decline of CD4+ T cells recruitment. Memory generation is represented by the availability of memory T cells after primary infection (in quantities dependent on the time of primary infection, vs. vs. ). Memory maintenance is represented by the slow decline in time of the initial pool of memory T cell, which is due to mechanisms of immune memory dilution. The y axis has no meaning, since the curves only represent the qualitative behavior of , and . The latter two show the same qualitative pattern, but in quantitative terms is .
