E-science and the life cycle model of data, information, and knowledge creation in the research process (adapted from Humphrey, 2006). This model displays stages in the research process that assist in understanding data and information needs. Several resources have been developed at UMN to help address the data and information management needs related to research and e-science, and are based on this model.
