Morphine administration stimulates TH phosphorylation at Ser31, but not Ser40 in the NAc. Semi-quantitative analysis and representative immunoblots of pSer31-TH (A), pSer40-TH (B) and total TH (tTH; C) in NAc tissue isolated from placebo-treated rats 120 min after acute administration of saline or morphine (20 mg·kg−1 i.p.). Each bar corresponds to mean ± SEM (% of control). Student's t-test revealed a significant increase in pSer31-TH after morphine administration (*P < 0.05 vs. placebo plus saline). No significant difference was observed in the pSer40-TH or tTH protein levels.
