Cells were tested for the presence of [URE3albicans] by growth on adenine dropout media. When SD medium was used, lacking adenine and only containing the amino acids needed for growth, the same result was obtained. Cytoductants were mated to strain YHE1186 (BY302 [rho⁰]), and the diploid phenotype was tested similarly.
