The ΔEF2638 mutant exhibits an elevated NAD+/NADH ratio. Wild-type OG1 (WT), DV87-4 (ΔEF2638), and DV122-1 (ΔEF2933) E. faecalis strains were grown in MH broth to exponential phase. Dinucleotides were extracted and the NAD+/NADH ratio was measured as described in Materials and Methods.
