Catalase rescues the growth defect of the ΔEF2638 mutant. Bacteria were grown with aeration (37°C, 225 rpm) in MM9YE containing 0.3% glucose (A) or 0.3% glycerol (B) with or without ∼500 U/ml bovine catalase (open symbols, + catalase; closed symbols, − catalase), and optical density was measured every 30 min at 600 nm.
