Hypoxia upregulates tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases-3 (TIMP-3) and -4 (TIMP-4) in fetal hearts and H9c2 cells. Protein abundance of TIMP-3 and TIMP-4 was determined by Western blots in fetal rat hearts (A) and H9c2 cells (B) treated with 20% O2 or 1% O2 for 48 and 24 h, respectively.
