TNF-α production in pregnant rats. Pregnant rats were injected with LPS alone (50 pg g−1) (shown as control) or with 0.7 ng Stx2 and 50 pg LPS g−1 (shown as Stx2) and killed 0, 2, 6 and 12 h after the injection. Serum samples were used to determine amount of TNF-α by elisa assay (A) and TNF-α cytotoxic activity by viability assay in L929 cells (B).
