The model predicts that non-ciliated cells will have steady-state nucleotide concentrations independent of ASL height (crosses ×). In contrast, the model predicts that ciliated cells will have steady-state nucleotide concentrations that decrease with ASL height (solid boxes ■). Only the ciliated model agrees with experimental data ranges.
