Single skeletal muscle fiber maximal Ca2+-activated (pCa 4.5) isometric tension in MHC IIA/X fibers (25°C) and relative proportion of MHC IIA and IIX isoform expressed in each fiber in controls (n = 5) and patients with cancer (n = 5). MHC IIA/X hybrids were not found in all volunteers, so the number of volunteers in each group and the total number of fibers (base of each bar, top) is reduced compared with MHC I and IIA fibers.
