UV-absorption spectra of the enzymatic hydrolysis of benzoylphosphate using the synthetic enzyme. Benzoylphosphate (1 mM) and synthetic acylphosphatase (60 nM) were mixed in 100 mM acetate buffer solution (pH 5.3). The reaction progress was monitored by UV absorption, indicating the complete hydrolysis of benzoylphosphate after 4 h. Before hydrolysis: UV-absorption maxima at 275 nm and shoulder at 285 nm; after hydrolysis: UV-absorption maxima at 269 nm and shoulder at 277 nm.
