Change in serum parathyroid hormone (PTH) levels throughout the study. No significant changes from baseline or difference between groups were observed in patients with high bone turnover receiving growth hormone plus calcitriol (A) versus those treated with calcitriol alone (B). Serum PTH levels increased from baseline in patients with low bone turnover receiving growth hormone therapy (C) but not in those receiving standard treatment alone (D). PTH values did not differ between the two groups of patients with low bone turnover. *P<0.05 for change from baseline.
