Sequence logos of predicted binding-pocket residues in teleost OlfCs. Sequence logos were constructed for two comparisons: The OlfC genes among subfamilies with (right) or without (left) lineage-specific expansions. The logos show the difference in the degree of sequence conservation at residues responsible for selectivity of amino acid binding (the positions of these residues are indicated in gray). The number of positions of residues predicted to be responsible for amino acid binding and structure maintenance are indicated in black and blue, respectively. The roles for each OlfC residue were predicted according to Alioto and Ngai (2006).
