(B) LV collagen concentration in tissue homogenates was assessed by measuring the concentration of protein-bound hydroxyproline (μg/mg total protein) from NF, DCM, ICM patients (means±SEM; n=20 in each group). (C) Areas of fibrosis in Mallory-Trichrome stained histological sections were digitally analyzed for collagen area fraction (%) on the basis of color thresholds using Image J software. Data are means±SEM from 6-7 patients in each group. (D) Comparison of collagen area fraction (%) vs. hydroxyproline concentration (μg/mg total protein). *P<0.05.
