The adsorption of R9C does not induce any measurable destabilization and/or ionic permeabilization of the membrane made from negatively charged DOBMP. The panel A gives two consecutive current traces as 100 mV was applied to DOBMP membrane before and after R9C addition in concentration of 20 μM applied from the cis side. The amplifier was in the Patch configuration. Panel B presents a nearly perfect overlap of the noise spectra for the membranes in the presence and absence of R9C. The amplifier was in the Whole Cell configuration. Membrane buffer contained 150 mM CsCl, 5 mM HEPES, pH 7.4.
