PelN thermal stability. The pectate lyase specific activity (SA) of PelN was assayed after incubation at 50°C for different time intervals of up to 120 min. The compounds were added at the following concentrations: 0.1 mM Fe2+, 0.5 g of polygalacturonate (PGA) liter−1, and 1 mM EDTA. After incubation, the assay was performed using 100 mM TES buffer (pH 7.4), 0.1 mM Fe2+, 0.5 g of polygalacturonate liter−1. These results are the averages of at least three independent experiments, with standard deviations between 7 to 10% for each value.
