Heme induces p47^phox phosphorylation in AM. Rat AMs (3 × 10⁶/mL) were cultured in the absence or presence of heme (10 μM) for different periods of time. Incubations were terminated by the addition of lysis buffer, and lysates were subjected to immunoprecipitation of p47^phox and immunoblots with an anti-p47^phox and p-serine antibodies were performed. The data shown are representative of three independent experiments. The mean ± S.D. is presented. *P < 0.05 when compared with controls.
