Metabolic scope calculated as the difference between the resting and the maximal oxygen consumption rates in Shorthorn sculpin (M. scorpius; green, n = 9), Arctic sculpin (M. scorpioides; red, n = 9) and Arctic staghorn sculpin ( G. tricuspis; blue, n = 9). Fish were acutely exposed to 4, 9 and 14°C. The acclimation temperature and prevailing sea water temperature when the experiments were conducted in 2009, was 9°C. The data represent values from the statistical model and the error bars represent the 95% confidence interval.
