Fig. 1. — Effect of salicylic acid (SA) pretreatment on growth of Arabidopsis thaliana wild-type (Col-0) plants under control or saline (100mM NaCl for 2 weeks) conditions. Plants were grown in either soil (top panel) or a hydroponic system (bottom panel) for 3 weeks before pretreatment and treatment. The treatments lasted for 2 weeks. (A) Control, (B) 50 μM SA pretreatment (1h) without salt stress, (C) 100mM NaCl, and (D) 50 μM SA pretreatment (1h) plus 100mM NaCl. For SA pretreatment, the pots were irrigated with 50 μM SA for 1h.
