Permeation rates of fluorescein (a) and rhodamine B (b) were determined for mucus model that was treated with 200 nm particles with either amine or carboxyl functional groups when compared to control (no treatment). Statistical significance (p<0.05) was seen for fluorescein with carboxylated particles.
