Fig. 1. Effects of Korean red ginseng extract (RGE) on liver function in carbon tetrachloride (CCl4)-treated fibrotic mice. Mice (N=5/group) were injected with 10% CCl4 in olive oil (2 mL/kg) intraperitoneally three times per week and administered RGE (30 to 300 mg/kg) orally three times per week for 4 wk (inset). After 4-week treatment, the activities of alanine aminotransferase (ALT) (A) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) (B) were assayed by using an automated blood chemistry analyzer.
