The mitochondrial motor/adaptor complex. The anterograde motor Kinesin-1 (also called kinesin heavy chain or Kif5) and the retrograde motor (the dynein/dynactin complex) are able to carry many cellular cargoes but are bound to mitochondria by their interactions with two mitochondrion-specific proteins: milton and Miro. Miro is carboxy-terminal anchored to the outer membrane of the mitochondrion. Milton serves as an adaptor between Miro and the motors. (Figure courtesy of Jarom Chung.)
