As described in the text, the RF amplitude during the spin-locking pulses (periods C and D in Fig. 1) was kept constant for all experiments. The values of τ are 100 µs (▪/black), 200 µs (⋆/red), 250 µs (▴/blue), and 350 µs (▾/green) corresponding to τDeff = 4.7, 9.4, 12, and 17 respectively. The variation in the echo amplitude with ω1 and τ is due largely to the second and higher order terms of the Magnus expansion.
