PLS-DA scores plot showed pancreas metabolite-based differentiation of septic alcohol-fed and septic water-fed mice. Metabolic profiles obtained via ¹H NMR spectroscopy were used to construct the PLS-DA model. Points on the scores plot correspond to pancreatic tissue samples obtained from either septic alcohol-fed mice (red) or septic water-fed mice (blue). Cross-validation of the model demonstrated that septic alcohol-fed mice can be reliably differentiated from septic water-fed mice based upon pancreas metabolic profiles (R² = 0.92, Q² = 0.65).
