Apical stimulation of filter-grown differentiated 14 days postconfluent Caco-2 cells with IL-6 (50 ng/ml) decreased transepithelial electrical resistance (TER) after 24 h compared to unstimulated controls (complete media, CM). Incubation with bovine colostrum (BC) or fetal bovine serum (FBS) increased TER. TER in the presence of CM at the beginning of the incubation was set as 100%. *p<0.05, n = 3–4.
