Comparison of parameter confidence when considering multiple models. The black curve is a plot of confidence versus sample size for the null hypothesis n = kˆ + 1. The gray curve is the parameter confidence for the null hypothesis n = kˆ + 2. It is clear that only the hypothesis n = kˆ + 1 needs to be considered and will result in an estimate of confidence that is a lower bound on all possible hypotheses.
