Agglomerates of polydisperse primary particles having geometric standard deviation σg = 2.0 (left column) and 3.0 (right column) made by diffusion-limited (DLCA) and ballistic cluster-cluster agglomeration (BCCA) as well as diffusion-limited (DLA) and ballistic particle-cluster agglomeration (BPCA). The structure of agglomerates consisting of very polydisperse (σg = 3) particles is quite similar (Df = 1.48 – 1.57) indicating that their polydispersity essentially “washes out” differences in agglomeration mechanisms.
