Grade 1	Walks and climbs stairs without assistance
Grade 2	Walks and climbs stairs with aid of railing
Grade 3	Walks and climbs stairs slowly with aid of railing (over 25 s for eight standard steps)
Grade 4	Walks unassisted but cannot climb stairs or get out of chair
Grade 5	Walks unassisted but cannot rise from chair or climb stairs
Grade 6	Walks only with assistance or walks independently with long leg braces
Grade 7	Walks in long leg braces but requires assistance for balance
Grade 8	Stands in long leg braces but unable to walk even with assistance
Grade 9	Wheelchair or bed bound; can only perform limited activities involving lower arm and hand muscles
