L4 worms were incubated with tritiated oleic acid complexed to BSA for one hour, and the amount of tritiated water generated by oxidation was determined, normalized to protein levels, and expressed relative to control levels. The starvation experiments were performed, when non-starved animals were L4 (see Experimental Section for details). Average ± SEM is shown; n indicates the number of determinations.
