The numbers were quite similar for all groups, indicating that the Vglut2 deletions did not affect the likelihood of the animals waking up spontaneously during a 100 s period of observed sleep. This figure represents the normocapnic responses of the animals, which were then tested for arousals to hypercapnia and hypoxic hypercapnia as shown in Figures 6 and 7.
