The neurovascular bundle, comprising the deep peroneal nerve (arrow), runs between anterior tibial muscle and extensor hallucis longus muscle. The lateral compartment contains the peroneus longus muscle at this level. The superficial peroneal nerve (arrowhead) courses anteriorly in the lateral compartment along the intermuscular septum between the anterior and lateral compartments
