Proposed model for the assembly of viroplasm induced by SRBSDV in cells of its insect vector. The viroplasm consists of a granular matrix formed by nonstructural protein P9-1 for the accumulation of viral RNA and a filamentous matrix formed by nonstructural protein P5 for the assembly of progeny core and virions. Viral nonstructural protein P6 was concentrated in the granular or filamentous matrices by direct interaction with P9-1 or P5. Viral RNAs are produced by assembled core particles within the filamentous matrix, which might then be transported to the granular matrix by association with P6. GM, granular matrix; FM, filamentous matrix.
