A: wild-type Cx26-transfected cells (blue DAPI stain) displayed a strong Cx26 (red) labeling that concentrated at cell-to-cell interfaces and correlated with GFP (green) fluorescence. B: untransfected HeLa cells failed to express either GFP or Cx26. Both Cx26-A88V (C) and Cx26-D50A (D) also displayed a clear Cx26 labeling that correlated with GFP expression, although the Cx26 signal was not focused at cellular appositions.
