After mice were sacrificed, RNA was isolated from the quadriceps muscle tissue and used to determine the expression of several markers of inflammation. The expression of each gene was normalized to the level of GAPDH mRNA. With the exception of IFIT2, there was no statistically significant reduction in the expression of these genes related to inflammation when untreated HT and ribose treated HT mice were compared.
