Proton NMR spectrum of P1. The coupling constant (J) of 4.8 Hz between protons H1 and H2 indicates that they are in an equatorial-axial relationship. The larger coupling constants between H2–H3 (11.2 Hz) and H3–H4 (10.1 Hz) indicate that they are in an axial-axial relationship. These relationships suggest that the polymer adopts a chair configuration with the C1-N bond axial and the other ring substituents equatorial.
