Each annotated sORFs was compared by sequence similarity against the DFCI Gene Index database (http://compbio.dfci.harvard.edu/tgi/plant.html, Quackenbush et al., 2001; Tsai et al., 2005). Only those with an expectation value cutoff of 10 (e⁻¹⁰) were considered as positive matches.
