Immunohistochemical detection of adenosine A2A receptors in isolated pial arterioles. In the presence of anti-A2A receptor (green) or anti-eNOS (red) antibodies, high levels of immunostaining were detected in the endothelium and smooth muscle for A2A receptors (A2AR) and in the endothelium for eNOS. The merged image shows overlap staining (yellow) in the endothelial layer. White arrowheads denote endothelial cells and arrows denote vascular smooth muscle cells.
