The CAL complex is formed by the PDZ domain-mediated interaction of CAL and CFTR and the coiled-coil domain-mediated interaction between STX6 and CAL. The CAL complex recruits the E3 ubiquitin ligase MARCH2 through an interaction between STX6 and MARCH2. The recruitment of MARCH2 leads to the association, ubiquitination and degradation of CFTR in the lysosome.
