Comparison of respiratory metabolic performance. Respiratory quotient (A) and carbohydrate oxidation (B) were calculated using oxygen consumption and carbon dioxide production and were compared among the mean values of the three trials for 30 min after glucose administration. The trials analyzed include: rest, rest with placebo intake; placebo, exercise with placebo intake; fermented milk, exercise with fermented milk intake.
