The efficiency of rescue of PR8 from Vero cells is improved by replacement of the NS gene segment with that from Eng53/v-a. We used the eight-plasmid reverse genetics system to transfect Vero cells and rescue PR8 and PR8 containing the NS gene segment of Eng53/v-a (PR8/Eng-NS). The numbers of PFU in culture supernatants were determined at 12-h intervals. The results shown are from three independent experiments conducted with each virus.
