The effect of oestrone derivatives on BK_Ca currents evoked in HEK 293 cells over-expressing α subunits of the BK_Ca channel. The normalized peak currents over time curves were compared with control and found not to be significantly different apart from Oestrone oxime and Quat DME-oestradiol, which demonstrated a small but significant inhibition. The currents were evoked by stepping the membrane potential from −40 mV to +60 mV. (*P < 0.5 compared with control data, Kruskal–Wallis test followed by a Dunns multiple comparison test).
